Here are some pics, one with flash and the other without. I touch and squeeze the area. I feel it, but it doesn't hurt. It doesn't stink either, so I don't think it's infected. I have had the industrial piercing for about a year now.

Any advice on what this is and how to get rid of the bump?

    Cheers.

keloid, i think surgery is the only quick way, I think I heard tee tree oil helps but you have to remove your piercing forever.

i had the exact same thing grow on my tragus piercing 2 years ago. Only way I got rid of it was to permanently take out the piercing, cleaned the spot, and slowly it shrank away :dunno:

Please don't post if you really don't know what you're talking about. :hs: Keloids don't happen on piercing sites. Hypertrophic scarring does. Something is causing irritation and causing this to happen. Could be anything from a change in water Ph level, soap, catching it on something, dirty pillowcase. :dunno:

But it was on the internet man, it must be true!

Been there done that with the scarring. It can go away without removing the jewelry.

I would start doing sea salt soaks with warm water twice a day for about 5 - 10 mins. and see if that helps. Remember you probably won't notice any improvement until a week or more so don't stop the soaks after only a couple days.

I'll give this a shot for a bout 7 to 10 days. If this doesn't work, I'm going to have to find some doctor here in Japan to take a look at it.

probably not traditionally the correct way to get rid of it but my mate had one like that, he took the earring out n played with it a lot til it popped. Then he cleaned the area often with alcohol swabs and it went away fine. Could possibly an infection to the metal but like u said it doesnt hurt, generally an infection would cause some itching or discomfort.

It depends on what it is though. An abscess of some sort versus a build up of tissue. In this case, I think it's a build up of tissue.

I had these about 6 weeks after getting mine, exact same area.
I cleaned it with sea salt, it'd go away then come back just when I thought it was over.

So I left it a while, then when the skin was all dead around it, popped the fucker, pulled off all the dead skin and used sea salts again and/or antiseptic..

    It worked *shrug* :p

i was always told that these happened when you got a cartilage peircing with a gun instead of a needle. that it has something to do with excess tissue build up.
