I have hung it from the rafters in my basement in various spots using several anchoring devices, but it still wont stay up, and if it does, not for very long. So the question is now, what about outside? its a leather EASTON 100lbs. heavy bag. With fall and winter coming on i dont want to ruin it. Will the rain and snow hurt the bag? and if so, has anyone else overcome this problem with the bag falling? Any help would be very appreciated.

problem #1: having a heavy bag and using it.

problem #2: not squatting and deadlifting and breaking pr's instead of punching the dumb bag.

problem #3: posting online instead of doing good mornings.

problem #4: not upping the dose.

do i need to say more?

i think you just about covered it

TS: can you bring it back inside after you finished using it? maybe leave it on a trolley in the garage and wheel it outside when you want to use it

find a better way to anchor it or hang it outside and just wrap a tarp around it in the winter. it's just a bunch of sand wrapped in synthetic leather.

water that's allowed to dry on the bag tends to make it rock hard after repeated cycles, so i wouldn't put it outside if that is a concern

it's doable outside. you gotta get some metal chains with "S" shape hooks so that you can unhook the bag and bring it in/down after your done.

that's how it's done at martial arts gyms.

Don't put it outside at all. You don't want moisture getting in it.

Mine came with a hook/plate that you bolt to whatever it's attached to. Ie drill to holes in the rafters, add bolts and washers, done. Friction alone is not going to keep it still.

Another thing to consider is mounting it to 8-10" spring (slightly smaller than you would use on a porch swing) so all the force isn't translated directly to the rafters. I picked this up from Bruce lee. It also allows it to move around more, which you may or may not like. I do.

I have mine held on a horizontal ceiling column on the back patio...I used a huge ass C-clamp and put cardboard on each side of it so that it grips better. Haven't had any problems with it falling or anything...

what do you mean by "it keeps coming back down" like it keeps ripping out of the rafters or what?

I hang my heavy bag outside, from a chain around a tree branch. I just bring it in/out of my garage every time i want to use it. Carrying the damn thing out and lifting it up/getting it hooked onto the chain is half the damn work out.
