    25S - Satellite Communication Systems Operator/Maintainer

Got any of them here? Still debating if I should go. Making my decision by Wednesday so my unit clerk and reserve me a seat for the class.

You will live in the field. It is a lot of work. It will set you up for a good civilian job.

I was in that school when it was 31S. A little bit of advice. Don't go. Try to get into the networking MOS. If you work it right the Army will pay for your CCNA and you will get much better courses throughout your tour. Also SatComm is good but it is a dying job in the civilian sector. I'm currently a RF Engineer (SatComm) and work is still there but not as much as before and you have to know networking to get a decent job.

The class is 9 months and Ft Gordon sucks. If your single you will live near the AIT recruits. IF your married then going to Gordon isn't that bad.

Keep in mind that I reclassed in 98 from infantry. The school is fun and like Brackac said you will be in the field alot if your tactical. If your lucky enough to get a 1C identifier then life will be sweet at a GMF earth station. But getting 1C is like winning the lotto. Seriously it is not that bad of a job but if I could do over i would have went with something more in use and that has better training classes. As Satcomm you will rarely get additional schools while in the MOS.

I'm already a 25B (Information Systems Operator). My National Guard unit wants to send me because we have open slots for 25S in my unit. When I get back, I'll make my E5.
