5:21am Woke up to the sound of the alarm and glass breaking, dog barking

Very intense shit, all of my NFA weapons are stored in my gunsafe, unloaded. I happened to have a 12 gauge next to my bed with two buckshot shells in it (fucking thing holds 8, I have no idea why I have two in it)

no flashlight, no way to cut on my floods outside, no way to distinguish whether my dog is making the noise or if there is someone in the house

in short, it made me really reevaluate my situation at home, and what I can do to be better prepared in the future- hopefully someone reads this and thinks "shit, i'd be fucked too"

broke the glass on the door, unlocked it, proceeded to enter

the next part i'm guessing they heard either the dog or the alarm and took off

Christ... all the toys you have and all you had access to is a shotgun with 2 shells? I figured you'd have some fingerprint activated in-wall armorers rack with automated sliding doors and whatnot.

I keep a 12 gauge pump "cruiser ready" with 6 in the tube and TLR-1 under the bed. My carry gun (Glock 19) sleeps in my nightstand along with a spare mag and 3W LED hand held, and my wife has another 3W LED handheld and pepper spray on her side. Plus tactical attack cats.

well my glock 19 has an Evolution can on it so that stays in the safe

all of my AR-15's are SBR with suppressors, even the 300 whisper

my glock 30 has the TLR-1 on it, but I keep that in the jeep

Basically I had a mossberg cruiser with two shells in it, and that's what I could get to quickly

Man that sucks. Glad nothing got stolen.

I have my XD ready to go beside my bed. I should put my flashlight there too.

Those things have threads, so why don't you unscrew it and keep the can in the safe and 19 in your nightstand? :lightbulbaboveheadsmily:

i'd rather buy another glock 19 than do that, i dunno why? the raised sights and extended barrel just make it lame unsuppressed

edit: i'm not saying your point is invalid, I'm just saying- i own that setup, and look what I do with it- makes it useless!

You keep a gun in your jeep? Is it a rag top?

    yep i'm prepared

You got it right, time to reevaluate your plan. At least it happened and noone got hurt. For me my goto defense guns at home are my 870P w/ a Surefire forend, sitting cruiser ready next to the bed. Or my G19 and SL TL-2 in the nightstand.

:roflw: All the guns in the world wont help if they're locked/unloaded in your safe/car. You need something you can get to quick. Take the can off the glock and use it as a nightstand gun.

Sure my house looks like shit, but at least I'm safe

WTF you are room clearing with a shotgun and you have basically the ideal home defense gun in your safe? Put SBR by the bed at night and lock it up when you leave. Fuck the glock, you're not going to hit shit at night when your shaking (ask any cop with a 2/10 hit ratio). I wouldn't store anything in the jeep unless it's in the garage at night.

house has it's own safe with weapons, most of my stockpile is designed around SHTF

simple burglary is difficult to stay prepared for with exotic weapons that have to be put in safe everytime you leave

that was my point in posting...if someone steals the jeep, I have insurance

I've trained with shotguns and carbines and prefer my 870 for use in the home. With NFA gear you have to follow the rules, which sounds like in the safe when not being used.

*Do you really think 1-1/2" of barrel makes a rifle easier to carry thru a house?

Why reliable HD/carry > Tacticool any day. I am glad nothing happened to you though. Consider yourself lucky to have learned this lesson with no real damage to your person or home.
