I used Paint Shop pro to ad th border, crop, resize, sharpen, and up the saturation a little.

    here's the original for reference.
This was taken with my D80 and Sigma APO 70-300 macro at F/5 1/320 shutter, and 200mm in macro mode.

I have a few others from the group, but dont' have time to fix and upload them now...
I welcome constructive criticism, as i'm just learning all the crap there is to know.

the blurred stem to the right of the one in focus draws my eye to it... which isn't what you want.

but as far as colors and stuff go, looks good to me

Also, take some more and submit it in the OTAP "patterns in nature" contest. You have until next Monday to submit :x:

The more people we have enter the better.

Not bad for your first shot. That stem is really annoying though. Other then that it is pretty sharp

Yeah I have a few where I focused on the stem to the right, but then the stem that goes to the left is really out of focus. I tried to use like f/8 or f/10 to get them both in focus but it didn't work. That should make the depth of Field longer right? maybe it doesn't work so well in macro mode.

one thing i like about this lens is the "bokeh" i think it's called, where it completely blurs everything in the background.

I have a few more from the set that i'll probably submit for the contest. But, if tomorrow is nice i may go out and take some more. I think i like the macro stuff, but it's hard to get right it seems.

    I'm up for criticism.

oh, and on a related note to photography, i got to hold a Nikor 300mm prime f/4 today. Thing was heavy and nice. guy at my work had it, it's for sale, but he doesn't know what it's worth. It's brand new and only been camera mounted like once. - Insurance bought it for him after a robbery.
