I bought it off of ebay, $7 shipped. It's one of the kinds:

    http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=15274&item=7157641179&rd=1&tc=photo

I didn't actually know what I was doing, but I put it together to test it out. Man it fucking killed my abs. So here are my questions:

    1. I have bad knees and without any kind of padding this thing kills my knees, even on carpet. Is it okay to put a pillow down and rest my knees on them?

    2. I had a hard time getting full coverage of my abs. It feels like I got hit the most in my upper abdominals, almost where my rib cage ends. I tried refocusing to get my lower abs, and I actually got it once, but it was so intense I could only hold it for a second before I collapsed onto my stomache. Fucking hurt. So my question is, is there any specific way to hit all of my abdominals evenly, or are they getting hit evenly already and I just don't feel it?

    3. I don't think there's any way to get my obliques with this, so what do you think the best oblique exercise is? I've been doing various side crunches/bicycle crunches, so I guess I'll stick with that unless you guys recommend otherwise.

That's it for now. Probably more to come later.

are you just doing isometric holds with this?

I think the idea is to roll back and forth

    1) Put some padding down for your knees. When you're a badass you'll do them from your feet.

    2) I have no fucking idea what your talking about. Start with the wheel at your knees, roll out until you are more/less parallel to the ground with your arms out over your head, contract your abs as hard as you can and return to the start point.

    3) Weighted side bends and landmines are good for the obliques.

I take that back about not hitting my abs evenly. I felt that shit the day after :o. I think I'm finally recovered, but man the two days following the workout were rough. This thing rocks. :big grin:

And I don't know if this is from the roller or from work, but I had some slight pain in my right shoulder, right around my clavicle and my lower back was hurting today.

well, what position by "rolling back and forth" will concentrate on your lower abs more then upper abs cuz i have that thing and i hardly use it.

I remember somebody saying that it could be bad for your rotator cuffs.

Is your lower back sore or is it actually hurting? You probably just have a weak lower back and should address that.

It was actually hurting. It's fine now, it might've just been from sitting at my computer with bad posture.

And I used it again last night and the same thing as before - it totally killed my upper abs after like 4 reps but I didn't feel much in the lowers. :hs:

I bought one a week ago. weird, cause it shreds my lower abs, but I don't feel so much on the upper abs. :dunno:

I wonder if it's just our different body types or the actual roller. Are you using the same kind as me? I've seen a few different brands out there... I wonder if that makes a difference.

While on the topic of ab workouts, I hear swiss balls are good for that job. How much are they? Any specific size I should look for, or is there a standard size?

    but it's this:

    not a wheel.

seriously, i used it for the first time in a while the other day. for like 5 mins at most, & i felt it the next morning & whole next day. like sore. my abs don't get that sore with any other non-weighted things.

The wheel one is HOOOOOOORIBLE for you. The one where you lay down isn't.
