Guy wants to trade me My 30d and 24-70 f/2.8 L for his D300 and 18-200 VR straight up. He said he had some extra money if I wanted to trade him other stuff too. Should I?

He called offering my $800 for my lens, then I told him i was going Nikon. He told me about his D300, then I realized he had PM'ed me earlier in the week about buying his D300 outright. He was asking $1499 for the body and $1999 for the package. I see the D300 as $1300 and the 18-200 as $500

What do you think? Good deal? I could still sell him my 550ex, BG-E2, 580ex, and/or 430ex as well.

I'll turn around and sell the 18-200 and buy a Nikon 17-55 f/2.8

    I think it's a winna

Aww, he decided he didn't want to anymore.

Maybe I can convince him with more stuff.

I wonder why on earth he's trading. The 30D is quite a few notches below the D300 in terms of performance.... especially focusing.

Just called him and he trying to tell me his camera is worth $1499 and the lens is worth $650. He wanted my camera, lens, 550ex and $450 from me. Naw, son, Naw. That and the fact that I'd have to drive about an hour to trade. :ugh:

what its "worth" and what he can get for it are completely different things.

Tell him your time is worth $500 an hour, so if you have to go pick it up... he has to kiss your feet, THEN give you the camera.

$1499? That thing better be pristine and have almost no actuations on it.

Fuck that man, give me one with around 5k actuations and I'll still be happy. It's only going to escalate very quickly. I've been known to shoot 3000 frames in the span of a week.

I just find his expectations for the trade to be outrageous. $1499 for the D300 and $500 for the 18-200. Did he buy his shit last week? lol

I guess $500 for the 18-200 is reasonable

    I was gonna sell it.

    I really want the 17-55 f/2.8.

If I can't find what I'm looking for, I'm just gonna keep the 30d and 24-70 f/2.8 and just shoot shoot shoot and buy more lighting stuff.

I just need to be economical with the decision. How is the D200? I'd shoot with is and upgrade later. I'm going to be shooting at ISO 100-400 this semester, I just realized.

I (as a Nikon user) would never buy one. Get a D80 before you get a D200. :o

good friend has one, when we shoot weddings together... he never takes it above 400 ISO. just to give you an idea.

Why did he up and change his mind?

Also, I'd probably keep the flashes :dunno: You can still use them off camera, so you won't have to buy any SB's anytime soon
