My grandfather died and I decided I would like one of his pistols. I know nothing about this as I only have rifle/ shotgun knowledge. Anything I should know? :o

Wow, nice to have something of your grandfathers. Was it ever shot? Or did he just clean and store his weapons really well?

Hmm, what to know about Ruger non-.22 autos -- they make good paperweights.

Just kidding, I just personally don't care for them because of ergonomics. The ones I've shot have been quite reliable.

The gun looks great. As the poster asked above, has it ever been shot?

Great gun to start out with. They are tanks and if you look up "reliable" in the dictionary, it shows a Ruger.

He bought 2 and I took the nicer looking one. My grandfather liked to spend money on things he didn't really need :o

They are nice SA/DA guns. The grip feels good for me since its a big larger, but its not the most comfortable. Id still own one if it was given to me.

    Good luck.

check your local laws, but i don't think you're required to register it with anyone.

dont contact a cop, they are notorisly ignorant of the law. call a lawyer if you are unsure and want it to be legal.

I have that same gun in the silver finish. Great gun, about 4000-5000 rounds out of it and no problems.

Contact the local gun store and they'll tell you whats up with the reg.
