i didn't really think it was possible, and that you all were fucking with me.

when i trained hard two years back, I got strong, not big. i took protein and that was really it. what a waste of fucking time. my 1 rep max was 200lbs on the bench. did bi/tri/trap workouts, but didn't really work out anything else. i never broke 131-132lbs.

i took your guys' advice, i've been eating about 3000-4000 calories a day (been logging on fitday). i eat anything and everything 3hrs apart, always snacking. i went from 124 to 128lbs last week. i'm going to fucking stick with this, because i want it more than anything :o sorry if i sound :greddy:

    you're almost there.

follow this routine like its your workout bible:
    http://forums.offtopic.com/showthread.php?t=1574598

add in some beach muscles if you are inclined to do so. eat everything that is in sight... literally. eat all day.

come back in 6-8 months and post your gains. you will be very happy. just make sure you take before pictures and record your current 1RM's

yup i follow that to the dot. the one part that was ambigious was on Friday,

"warmup to 3 reps with 5 more lbs than you used on monday"

so I read that do 3 sets of 5 reps with 5lbs more than I did before, then for hte last two sets, i dropped back to my monday weight.

does he mean just warmup and 3 squats with extra lbs?

i need to get somebody with a cam to takes pics :o i don't even have a current 1rm, before this week i haven't been in the gym for 2+ years.

edit: what do yo mean by beach muscles?

Awsome, Keep stuffing your face! All food is your friend. You know how basketball players sleep with a basketball. You should sleep with a pack of chicken breasts. :yum:

You just work up to a set of 3 reps with 5 more lbs than you used on Monday. Let's say that your last set on Monday was 225 for 5. On Friday, you wanna do a set of 3 with at least 230.

I dunno what you are squatting though, so it's kinda hard to give a rep scheme for working up to a weight. I used to just take like 15-20 lb jumps for sets of 3 until I reached that goal of 3 reps w/ 5 lbs more. This is after warming up and everything of course

im not squatting a lot right now anyways so maybe i'll keep pushing myself until i get there. im trying to have good form though instead of just weight.

wow dude that is not good you should be doing about 2 lbs a week. you dont want to just get a fat gut you want a more even dispersion of fat.

you DONT want to do a dirty bulk (pizza, mcdonalds and that shit). dont be an idiot

yeah if you're just eating like a pig, working upper body and not squatting you can be assured its not going to be good.

Youll still need a little cardio but regardless, eating like shit (pizza WTF???) is just dirty bulking and wont do him any good, 1-2lbs a week is a good clean bulk.

lol I can't believe you'd even try to argue. If you're just eating that much shit your sodium, saturated fats and cholesterol are going to be sky high and although you're meeting your caloric surplus goals you're eating the kind of shit that's detrimental to your health instead of just eating more food (that's still healthy) and gaining a normal amount of weight each month.

I'd tell him to bulk to about 15-20 lbs heavier than he is and then cut. Since it's his first bulk it'll be easy to gain the weight and he'll have a better idea of how to lose it instead of getting in over his head with a 25-30lb bulk. With 20 lbs at 2 a week it'll be a two and a half month bulk which is pretty good for his first time imo

Wha..? 5000-6000 is hard to meet and expensive without dirty bulking. And he want's to eat saturated fats and cholesterol to drive test production, he's not going to be at any health risk from a few months of bulking. As long as he is on a good work out regiment his weight won't run away with him...epecially when bulking from 125 lb.
