she got a brand new MB for xmas, 60 gig, the basic one.

i used senuti to put her music onto her computer. well on accident i opend all the files onto her desktop they were all overlapped on her hd icon. i double click n they all open, and the computer is freezing/ running slow its only on the M's ( she has 512 mem ) so i shut it down and turn it back on. i have all her files and i put them in a file with her name so "gf music" i run senuti and put my shit on there n music in "myname music" file, transfer it all to itunes

well when said and done she had 2 gigs of hd space left. so i go back, i delete the files "my name music" and "her music" cus its all in itunes. then i go through and delte a bunch out of iTunes that she didnt want. got her back to 27 gigs.

she now has 10 gigs of music. tech she should have about 40 or so gigs of hd space right now since the only other program she herself loaded was office.

my question is, is there duplicates somewhere? is there somewhere i can search her HD n find temp files or something to delete to give her more HD space?

i feel bad enough to almost just fresh install her OS n start new. she is kinda mad and i dont blame her.

also, make sure that itunes isn't copying the music into it's own folder

I gotta agree, I can't read half of what the thread starter wrote :o

but yeah fresh install, open itunes prefs and turn off "copy to itunes folder", then go.

IIRC Onyx is the app that will get rid of the non-localized stuff, and some other things she won't use like garageband loops. :dunno:

Garageband, office trial, and all of that. Just slap your gf, tell her to shut the fuck up and do a fresh install.

a quick and dirty way to find out where that's happening is to get info on tolders and just keep following the directories until you get to somewhere where there shouldn't be a lot of shit :dunno: selecting multiple folders and getting info will let you divide and conquer

about 20-30 minutes, and you can choose what you want installed (programs, languages, etc). You can get your install way smaller in size than what was shipped. You don't have a product key?

No, you can use them as many times as you want.
