What license? If you do commercial work with edu license, you're just as illegal as pirate, only $450 poorer. :noes:

    Exactly.

Don't you do commercial work? student/teacher copies do not allow commercial work.

I think it must be an Educational license (not teacher or student version).

I was always under the impression Retail licenses were for established business usage and EDU license was not to be used for commercial work (profit). That's the entire reason I bought my retail version.

Can I use my Adobe Student and Teacher Edition software for commercial use?

Yes. You may purchase a Student and Teacher Edition for personal as well as commercial use.

Can a student or teacher continue to use Student and Teacher Edition software after graduation or upon completion of training?

Yes. After graduation or upon completion of training, an individual may continue to use Student and Teacher Edition software.

Not really. Whether by the EULA language itself or by implication (that you cannot simultaneously be an eligible student and a professional at the same time), you can get burned on this. I personally know more than one person who has. Student/teacher is more lax from what I understand, though you're only more or less in the clear for one upgrade cycle after you graduate/retire, etc.

Will you get hassled if you use it to hack up a photo here and there? No. Will you if you do regular, high-profile commercial work? Maybe. :dunno:
Is it unethical to buy software under false premises to save money when you intend to use it to make a living? Absolutely.

edit: intend no judgment on OPs intent

In another thread in the Offtopic subforum, we seen that on the adobe website it said we couldn't.

Looks like it's allowed for commercial work. Pre-ordering it asap.

Before, it said that student/teacher versions were not able to be used for commerical work.... only the educational (which was different) which was more expensive than the student/teacher. If you search on google, you can see past forum topics about it.
However, the adobe site says it's ok now so I will be getting the master collection

i was not saying that buying it under false pretense and using it was legal. You said Educational, and teach/student versions cannot be used for profit.

    And they can.

Clint take a course at the local com college and you are all set. Probably can get a grant for it. Thats what im doing. Gonna take some ad and business courses for the next couple years anyway.

My CS3 is a "student" edition.. and now i'm going to do the same for CS5.
And i know MUCH bigger studios that do the same method. When i'm featured in Photoshop User magazine maybe then i'll buy the full non-educational version :big grin:

probably much more likely if you are a bigger business. I would be willing to bet that they would never go after an individual or a small business with a few people...
