I made a thread last week regarding squats. I decided to follow some of your suggestions and did my squats as follows:

    135 x 10
    155 x 5
    175 x 5
    195 x 4
    205 x 3
    215 x 2 (3rd attempt failed)

I tried the third as hard as I could but I couldn't and I realized I was getting lower and lower. Luckily the safety pins were there.

I'm pretty disappointed with myself :( I've never been so embarassed at the gym before either :hs:

As soon as I failed, I just looked down on the ground. I didn't even want to look up to see 10 people staring at me :wtc:

If you want to succeed at anything sometimes you must fail. Don't worry about it.

That's the thing. I rarely ever see someone fail on anything that makes a huge loud noise. So when it does happen, everyone in the gym is like :eek3:

And when you have a gym full of high schoolers and young college boys, it doesn't help. :hsd:

please...the only reason they were staring was cause they thought squat cages were meant for curling. i hate people who curl in cages.

    Hey, at least you're squatting.

I was pulling a plate off the bar yesterday and caught the edge on the bar and dropped it on the ground :hs:, that was embarassing :o.

Happened to me on Monday, it didn't make much noise though (failed with my ass to teh floor pretty much). It happens. Your gym must be full of faggots if they laughed though, the guy working near me just checked I was OK and everyone else went about their business.

My ass was pretty close too. I was an inch away from the pins when I dropped them. Dropping them an inch away will make quite a bit of noise :hs:

they stared because you startled them, and because its rare to see someone actually doing squats in the gym:mamoru:

:dunno: the bars are pretty thick/rubber coated on our rack. I managed to kinda lower it slowly too.

dont worry about anyone else at the gym. None of those douches even do squats. If you are afraid of failure you will never succeed at anything. Go in without fear. If you fall get back up, if you pass out wake up, but don't let it keep you from succeeding.

try less sets. you're likely worn out by that 6th set.

try a 5X5 routine, see if you like it.
