    i play alot of indoor/sand volleyball so i have a pretty good vertical. i'm only 5' 8" but i can touch a basketball rim if i jump off both legs, but off 1 leg like you would usually jump in basketball or something i can barely touch the bottom of the net. any pointers?

    my friends were telling me you should be able to jump higher off 1 leg but i don't see how seeing as you have half the lift.

    any pointers anyone?

    p.s. i look like a moron trying to jump off 1 leg too.

    the only thing 1 leg is gonna give you is the SPEED coming towards the net, the speed is going to transfer to a bigger push; doing this with 2 legs is going to stop/slow down the drive.

    Standing under the net would be vice-versa. You're going to get more of a push off 2 legs, obviously

    dot.

    Standstill = two legs
    Running = one leg

    ya, i realize that. i wouldn't run around and stop to jump off two legs, which is why i have a good standstill two leg jump because it is usually from blocking where you are planted in place or spiking where you usually approach, plant yourself, and launch off of two legs.

    my running 1 leg jump is pathetic, which is why i asked for help.

    pikes help with one legged takeoffs. other than that the only thing you can do is learn how to "block" your momentum. blocking is when you use horizontal momentum to shoot you up. if you want a really detailed explanation about blocking i can pot a video that will help. its used more in gymnastics though

    my friends mentioned something about using the other leg that you're not jumping off for more momentum by swinging it around and up as you're jumping. something like that.
