Overall I'm happy I bought it. I originally had plans to turn this into a tack driver, but I don't think it'll really be worth it in the end. I'm going the economical route and I've got the following on order:

    VQ hammer
    VQ auto bolt release
    Eagle extended mag release
    PC extractor
    Rimfire Tech bolt buffer

All that for $55. The only other thing I'm considering at this point is a black hogue overmold stock, which usually go for ~$80 and I'll free float the barrel in that and get it glass bedded. That's about the extent I want to go with this gun. Other than that, I'm ready to move onto something bigger and more fun. I'd like to get a handgun, but I'm also seriously considering getting an AR-15 kit in .223. I'll save that for another thread, but for now here's my 10/22. I've only taken it shooting twice, but I'm going out again tomorrow with my SO.

Your stock looks a lot darker than mine. I'm considering stripping mine down and painting it white a-la M14 just to be an asshole.

    lol

It could be darker. Probably just because of the different lighting honestly.

I'm sort of tempted to buy the Tapco stock for it, but I don't want to look like a jackass.

The Tapco looks like it's made out of plastic, I've seen them in person.

I wouldn't mind getting one of these for the price they are though.

Oh well, either way I'll hold out for the Hogue overmold. It's only like $70 shipped. This is the end result I'm shooting for. I don't know if I'll bother with a barrel or not, though. You think the factory 10/22 barrel would look goofy on this stock?

I think it might look sort of strange but not horrid.

Kind of sucks that you have to pick one or the other lol

Yeah I don't want to fork over $150 for another barrel, it's not worth to me. Main reason I'd even consider it is because they look cool. :o

You are going the opposite routes for me kind of. I grew up on the .22 but bought an m38 for my first gun. 8.5 (8+1 in middle of build) more and I am thinking of buying a 10/22 next.

Everyone always goes back to the .22. It is cheap and the best plinker. You will see.

Is that a factory synthetic stock?

I hate the barrel band, why do they even include it? :hs:

I'd consider trading someone for a factory synthetic if it didn't have the indent for the barrel band. I'd just take mine off if it didn't look even more retarded without it.

So I'm in a dilemma now. I'm not sure if I'll want to buy a barrel later down the line, but I do know I want a stock soon. Should I buy a sporter stock or a bull barrel stock? If I get a standard sized synthetic stock, can it be sanded down to fit the bull barrel? If I buy the stock sized for the bull barrel, can a factory barrel be used in it?

Actually, wouldn't it be easier to free float the factory barrel in a stock made for a bull barrel? Why don't more people do that? I guess maybe it would look ridiculous.

How do you guys find good places to go plinking? The DNR range out here requires a maximum of 6 rounds per magazine at a time, no more than 1 shot per 3 seconds, and paper targets only. FTL. There's tons of farm land out here but I don't know anyone who has some, and I'm not about to knock on random farmers' doors asking if I can shoot on their land. :dunno:

why not just buy the bull barrel stock now and wait until you get a barrel to put it on? thats what ill end up doing, probably.
