i really need it mainly for peanut butter :hs:

i just can't seem to control myself when i'm sticking the spoon in there and not REALLY knowing how much i am getting...now i can't cheat and lie to myself :)

but anyway, measuring out pb by mass today was making me wonder how inaccurate other people are with it too...i see people say all the time "1 tbsp peanut butter" ... are you really getting 1 tablespoon?

turns out for me , dipping the spoon in and coming out with a big clump is actually around 4 tablespoons worth, so about 360 calories per spoon. 1 tablespoon is a pretty minute amount... a small lump covering half of the tablespoon.

it's also been interesting measuring protein powder...not really a big deal here since it's nowhere near as calorie dense and peanut butter, but i measured a few powders today and the scoops you get in the tub can be pretty inaccurate.

    good investment for $29.99 :bigthumb:

I love my food scale. Does ounces and grams :wiggle: It's a freaking awesome tool.

And yeah, I was shocked when I first started using it regularly to realize how much I was overestimating with eyeball measurements.

no fuck natty pb, i hate it. my real favorite is that reduced fat shit they sell, but i normally buy skippy natural. it's like a compromise between real natural pb and regular skippy. it pretty much has the taste and texture of regular.

Somebody on one of my other forums worked out the amount of transfat in a serving of regular PB...it's so trace as to be laughable. I like the regular better anyways.

yeah i think i read that actually. you should try the skippy stuff, it tastes like regular, may a BIT less sweet, and doesn't separate at all. They use palm oil instead of whatever they use in the regular.

Pulling this up from a few days ago, but I was slathering some pb on a bagel this morning and realized that I have no fucking clue how much pb i'm actually using.

chris, any chance you can post a pic of how much 1 or 2 tbsp of pb actually is, just so i've got some sort of reference?

People call you obsessive yet? That's what people said to me when I bought it but whatever. If you cook, it is worth it to not over/underestimate. Now I just need a portable one.
