Wait about 2 weeks... I work for nissan, and we are getting our first 2005 Xterra in within the week, and then within 2 we'll have 3 more.... most dealers will be on the same schedule.

2004 : Smaller dimensions, cheaper fit and finish. 210 hp. V6 5speed manual tranny.
    2005 : Bigger dimensions, better fit and finish. 265 hp / 284 ft.lbs. torque, 6-speed manual tranny.

The differences exactly follow how the 2004 Frontier was different from the 2005 Frontier. Having driven both, I can tell you that the 2005 is SO MUCH better.

That said, you can get a better $$$ deal on the 2004... especially with their $2400 factory cash-back.

I like it. Have there been many problems with the older ones?

no problems, really. The 00's had a fuel-sender recall... but the 04's are pretty solid.

Funny, I just got a care package from Nissan about the new Xterra. It included an energy drink pack. Brochure states 250hp. Website say 265hp

I had an 03 X that was an SE with a 'charger. I loved it, you could inflate a full size air mattress in the cargo area with the seats layed down! I had a TV in it so when I went camping I could watch movies while I laid in bed! If you are looking for more owners input try out the website www.xterraownersclub.com I used to be a member there, great site with loads of information.

Xterras in general are well built and solid as hell. Even the 04 and older with the 210hp motor is a beast.
