A buddy of mine has a 340 PD.... fucker is BRUTAL to shoot with Gold Dots in it. I thought it was going to rip my arm off from the recoil.

We shot some Blazer .357 through it one time and it was racking back so hard the adjacent bullets worked their way out of the casings (crimp failed) and were jamming the gun. :noes:

Ran some .357 through my 340pd this week. Big bang, big flash and pain. Hold your hand out and have someone hit it with a baseball bat... ok not that bad but close.

  13. 340pd with gold dot .357mag either in an ankle holster or iwb.

I don't find the recoil to be horrible, but I wouldn't want to run box after box of ammo through it in one go.

my DC is an SA 1911 A1 8+1 in the pipe, then a 8rd spare, and an 7rd spare. my BUG is a G21SF with 13+1 in the pipe, and two spare 13Rd mags. my BUG stays in the car and i hope my 1911 is enough to get me back to my car.

im more accurate with the 1911 so that is my DC .... i also carry a Surefire E2D Defender and a CRKT M16-03Z for those SHTF situations (surefire came in handy one night with an idiot that wouldnt back off. it would not have been a good shoot, so i grabbed my surefire instead ... he was smart enough to stop asking for money / advancing).

i carry my gun everywhere, but it will never diffuse a situation before it gets dangerous. That is why i carry a gun, to diffuse a situation AFTER it gets dangerous. Being stern, adamant, and authoritative will diffuse most situations ... on the rare occasion it does, an upper hand like a flashlight can make the difference .... for the REALLY stupid people, sometimes you have to defend your own life.

:ugh: @ people thinking the 340PD is brutal with .357 in it. After shooting my 642 with .38 in it, I was expecting something terrible and painful from the 340. It was really not much worse than than my 642. Obviously it's not a fun little range gun, but it's not bad to shoot.

It depends on the .357, some rounds are a little hotter than others and some you really can really tell the difference. The original hogue grip did seem to handle it better than the CT grips though. I'm a pussy.

Blazer .38spl is practically nothing to shoot in the 340PD... gold dots are night-and-day different. Mild to wild in no time flat :noes:

I usually put one or two rounds of .357 in with .38s when I shoot with it at the range... that way I keep myself from flinching and always hold the gun down to minimize the effects of recoil.
