UFC Quick Quote: Houston Alexander has one kidney

“I think at 35-years-old you’re a lot more grounded. I think you have a few more responsibilities, so you’ve actually got something to fight for. In 2000, my daughter needed a kidney and a lot of people ask, ‘why does he have this scar on the side of his stomach?’ Well the scar on the side of my stomach is from me giving my daughter a kidney in 2000. When your kids need something like that, you don’t think twice.”

stop making it harder to hate you

the guy has a face that makes ya want to hate him but he is fun to watch that's for sure.

how many dads wouldn't give their kid a kidney (ok yes there are some dead beat jerk offs that deserve death that wouldn't give it up, but come on),,,any parents on here that would tell their kid to fuck off in that situation? i mean i'm glad he did the right thing and maybe he's a saint but does giving your kid a kidney = being a great guy? i'm a dick head and i'd rip my kidney out for my kid with zero pause lol

i'm not a alexander hater, i have enjoyed his UFC fights. but i just don't think the kidney thing is as big of a deal as people will make it. good for him and all but any decent human being would give a needed body part to their own child

  5. you know when you get a kidney through donation, they only take out the old one if it's cancerous? If it's just failed, they leave it in, and smash a 3rd kidney into your abdomen. That's why the recover from kidney donation is much worse than the recovery from getting a new kidney.

He's a nice guy, but the only thing that annoyed the fucking shit out of me is how he'll stand overtop of the opponent after he knocked them out and give a little taunt, he even pushed the ref out of the way to give his little taunt against jardine iirc.

Other than that, he's a wicked guy.

being a single father with six kids probably makes him a decent guy.

    fixed lol

i never said he wasn't a decent guy btw. i just said that giving your own child a kidney doesn't make you a great person, i'd bet that 99% of those of us on this board (that have a kid) would do the same

esp. after Jardine was complaining that he didn't get a worthy opponent.

Ya, I like having passion, but it just seemed it went a little over the respect line, like the guy is knocked out, you don't have to stand over him and flex or whatever... but now that someone mentioned the comment jardine said, it actually makes sense , I probably would've done the same thing if someone said that about me.

I see your point, but think of it like this. You have a kidney removed and you have some serious setbacks for your health. You have to put your training on hold and basically expose yourself to the risk of ending an athletic career. Obviously it turned out well for him.

:werd: I'm excited to see him fight again this weekend.

Seems like there's been a lack of good 'finishers' lately. :dunno:

I can smile when its raining.
Got no problem with the guy. I was sorta upset about the taunting thing before, but then i watched the prefight again, and Jardine basically calls him a scrub, so I think it was justified.

Not to mention I read another article talking about him as a parent, he has like 6 kids or something, and hes a single dad. They said hes always there for them and whatnot, and you know what? A single DAD? when a lot of dicks would bail on ONE kid?

at first i didn't like the guy but damn he sure has made it hard for me to continue not liking him. he's an exciting fighter and seems like a good family man for his kids, there isn't much more we can ask for.

I would rather see a fighter do something like stand over a downed opponent then hold a choke longer then necessary like Babalu did.
