I never actually owned one, but I rented one from Hollywood Video so many times (probably enough to where it would have been cheaper to just buy one  ). I remember just how amazing Sonic Adventure was, and just how solid of a launch title it was (it would be still over a year until the PlayStation 2 would come out, and honestly, the only launch title I can remember for that was Fantavision; a game where you setup fireworks and watch them light up).

I also remember how much better the graphics were for Tony Hawk's Pro Skater over it's N64 version, and quicker loading than the PlayStation version.

Later, I remember hearing how easy it was to hack to play burned CDs. Some of you have done that, I just wonder how many of you still keep it hooked up next to your PlayStation 3 and XBOX 360.

I only had one friend who had it, he had Crazy Taxi which had a really, really, REALLY annoying Offspring song in it. Also a Resident Evil typing game where you killed zombies for typing basic words.

Share your experiences. Did anyone have Seaman? Did anyone take their memory unit on the go to play the downloadable games?

Awesome system. Phantasy star online was way ahead of its time and easily the best game on the system. I also had seaman but was pretty disapointed cause I bought into the hype. Shenmue was cool but also super hyped at the time.

Graphics wise sonic adventure shit on everything else at that time , it was pretty amazing.

Im so glad I didnt just wait for the ps2 to come out.

Yeah, as touched on - Phantasy Star Online was fucking bananas.

    I played that for MONTHS.

Still dust it off from time to time to play some NES or Quake 3 with a few friends.

Beat me to it. :hs: One of the greatest systems ever.

I was actually planning on buying a BRAND NEW one and opening it today, but I lost track of time and now it's too late unless I can find one locally, which would be tough. :hs:

I remember working with my dad that summer to save up for the system. It was sooo worth it at the end. My mom drove me to Toys R Us, where I had reserved it, and I picked it up. Went home and immediately popped in Sonic Adventure.

Oh, and let me just say this; The Sega Dreamcast is the ABSOLUTE BEST SMELLING PRODUCT EVER TO BE RELEASED. Seriously. That box smelled SO good. I actually saved the thing and would open it up to take a whiff every now and then. No BS, I've posted about this before. Nothing has come close since.

I still to this day regret selling mine. I played the shit out of Shenmue and Tokyo Extreme Racer 2.

I remember the annoying beeeeeeeeeep the VCU thing made when I powered the system on because it's battery was dead.
