Here is the sofa I have. Now I need a chair to compliment it. I could get the matching chair that is pictured, but it's not really that comfortable.

Or I could get this chair. This chair is a lot more comfortable, but it doesn't really match the sofa, in my opinion.

So what do you guys think?

I generally hate when everything matches. it looks so flat :ugh:

you can match without having them be from the same line of furniture.

that chair doesn't go with that sofa at all. you're taking something with slim legs and contemporary lines and tossing it with this over-stuffed blob of a chair. bad decision :o

    match them within a theme...

my dad has our entire place in king richard whatever, so it all fits as it's from the same time period, but its harder to do with more contemporary pieces i'd think

How about mixing leather and fabric? I've seen some really nice leather chairs, but it doesn't seem like they really fit with a fabric sofa.

If the chair from the same line isn't very comfortable, is the couch comfortable to you at all?

    actually it is.

i mean, it kinda has a low back, so it's kind of a bitch to slouch in, but aside from that, it's pretty comfortable.

My wife bought me this chair a couple years ago:

    http://www.roomandboard.com/rnb/collection.do?method=get&id=377843&cat=25

It's awesome and seems designed for slouching. You probably need to be at least 5'10" or the arms will be too tall.

    .

plus, with the metal legs on the sofa, those wooden legs on the chair aren't doing it for me. If you're not gonna match, it's gotta look like you consciously made a decision not to match it, yet have it go together and make some sense. The pieces don't have to be from the same family, just come from the same context...if that makes sense :hs:

Most of their stuff comes from small furniture manufacturers in the US - it's not cheap Chinese crap marked up to ridiculous prices because it looks trendy. It's good quality with appropriate prices.
