that you can just maintain? no more #'s goals "k adding 10lbs next workout", no more weight goals "i need to weigh another 10lbs", "lose another 10lbs", no more size goals "i need to add another inch to bicep/tricep/chest/breast/face/neck/head"?

the convenience of a maintenance workout appeals to me but everytime i hit the goals i set - "ok i'm going to deadlift 350 and then i'll just maintain." - i want to go higher.

is it a disease of sorts? like body dysmorphia?

I think it's just greed, and the potential to be better than you are. That's why we're working out in the first place.

I remember when I said to myself I'd be happy if I can do 5 pull-ups. Then it became 8. Then it became 8 easy ones. Then it became 10. I can do 15 on my first set now, so I tell myself I'd be happy if I can do 25 on my first set.

but psychologically, it's muscle size that keeps me happy. I'd be happy if my back were very large and thick, even if I could only do 5 pullups.

There is no point to which most of us will be happy. The goal of getting stronger and bigger is what keeps most of us in the gym.

You'll never hear Donald Trump say "I have enough money now, I'm just going to stop now and maintain 500million"

I'd be happy with a few things... 300lbs with a top 10 lift of all time... or cut to 12% and be 245 for a while. I'm really starting to get sick of carrying this weight, so I'm feeling like the latter might happen after my next meet.

I'll never be happy with sets/reps/#'s. although I don't really care about my size anymore, people already tell me I'm too big :wtc:

I'm not saying that to say I'm huge, only to say that some people are idiots.

I honestly think if I can maintain a bench of 315 and a deadlift of around 405 or so into my 30's that I'll be content. HAPPY would be benching 315 for reps and deadlifting 600+

    240lbs bodyweight, sub-13% bodyfat, 275+ bench, 450+ dl, 375+ full squat

I'd say I won't reach any of those for 5 years because I don't put enough energy into eating/sleeping. maybe i'll get the dl in a couple years cause i work hardest on that and i'm only 100lbs off.
