So Apple sent an iPod video for my brother's bad 20GB b&w iPod model

    My brother called Apple to get a replacement for his iPod early this month . It was the third time that piece of shit crapped out on him. He bitched about them sending him bad refurb models as replacements and requested a new model, not another refurb model. They agreed and said they'll send him a new iPod photo. That was 3 weeks ago.


    So today, he just got the replacement and Apple fucking sent him a 30GB iPod video. :eek3:

    I was on the phone next to him when he called apple. He had to get up to 2 levels of customer support for them to actually agreed to send him a new model.

    :rofl: What if your car or something broke every few weeks and you had to mail it in for repairs?(Yes I know you would not mail a car in for repairs, its to make the analogy. :rolleyes:) That shit is fucking tedious.

    no fuckin way will apple ever replace your previous generation ipod with a current gen ipod...they have plenty of fuckin previous generation refurbs to dish out to anyone.

    Is software. Software crashing is not the same thing as a piece of hardware becoming unusable. The fact that you even said that makes it obvious that you are stupid as hell.

    He has no motivation to lie. It sounds like he dosent have any brand loyalty to Apple so there is no reason to make them sound good.

    My sister and her BF both have 60gb B/W ones that they use daily to, from, and at work as well as for their home stereo in the evenings. They've had them for just under 2 years I believe and still have had no problems.

    That's the best thing about Apple care. When Apple fucks up, they really make it up to you. There are a number of people that have stories like this. A guy in my office had issues with his powerbook. He sent it in a few times because it was having issues. They kept it for almost 30 days and he was getting pissed. All of a sudden he recieved a brand new, upgraded model in the mail with all his files on it. Very :cool:

    I had a small issue on my end. I ordered a charger for my 4th gen iPod from Apple.com. They sent me a firewire port charger for a 1st gen iPod. It in no way will work. So I called Apple and they said a new one was on the way and to just use the included lable to send the wrong one back to them. Well, they sent me the same thing again. I called them and they told me to just keep both of them and sent me out the right one, finally. So I sold the other ones on eBay. :cool:

    Most customer service centers with any company are like this. Back in the day, I worked for a few call centers. I was a manager for two of them and only we could actually give refunds or dock bills and that type of shit. The regular kids on the floor couldn't.

    Understood, but he had to talk his way up to that level though. At least their customer service was better than anything you can find at Dell in India.

    Apple iPod costs $150 to build and 40 Million have been sold in the last 4 years. Giving away a $150 iPod to keep customers happy is an easy loss. Can Audi do that? No. Audi's are obviously much more expensive and don't have sales numbers like the iPod.

    Well yeah. It's Apple. I'm sure people are always trying to get free shit.

    There's a kid that works for me. He's always trying to do that. He showed me his ipod one day and said the screen was having discoloration on the black and white screen. So I looked at it and had to get him to point it out because I couldn't see shit. Even after he did, I couldn't see anything. I was just looking at him like :hsugh: "Trying to get free shit again?"

    "They shot me down :o"

    I knew it.

    I'm sure Apple reps just have to weed thru shit like this.

    I do, but maybe I don't count because my scroll wheel has been acting like a bitch.

    Also on the topic of getting upgraded replacements, Applecare tries to avoid doing this, and only do so when they f'ed up so to speak. Best places to have this done is; Best Buy, CompUSA, etc. Product replacement plans ftw! I had a 15gb gen 3, and when the 20gb gen 4 was released in b&w, I told them my iPod wouldn't connect to the PC and it would show a folder icon. They replaced it with a gen 4, and I was smiling all the way to the bank.

    But now, I have Applecare and every time I take it into the gay ass Apple store, they say "hey the scroll wheel works, albeit a bit slow, it still works, wait till it breaks and then bring it in." I'm just like "wtg? Obviously its a malfunctioning unit if it isn't as fast as the others so why not just replace it?"

    Fuck them, no more Applecare plans for me, just Best Buy PRP :bigthumb:
