Well, I haven't added in the lifting yet, but I decided I'm going to do my cardio 6 days a week. Right now I'm doing 5 minutes on the elliptical to get warmed up (start at low resistance and build up), then I stretch and get on the recumbent bike. For the first 20 minutes, I gradually build up the resistance and speed until I'm maxing out the meter for the last 90 seconds (600 watts), then I cut back to a light rate for 2-3 minutes, then over the next 2 minutes I go back to the pace I started at originally. Over the next 5 minutes I build up to maxing it out again (60 seconds this time), and then repeat. So in essence, the first 20 minutes I max it out once, then I max it out again twice in the second 20 minutes.

However, my weight hasn't changed a god damned bit (though it's only been a week)

Still hoping to lose 15-20lbs by 16 September, though.

Any suggestions (I mean in general, is that an ok routine?)

Well, you'd think there'd be SOME change, no? I don't mean I expect to lose 10lbs a week, but there's no change at all :dunno:

Measuring your weight from week to week is a bad idea in some cases. Try doing it once a month.

i dont think you would see anything but water weight the first week.. just stick with it and after 2 more weeks if you arent losing anything, re evaluate your diet

Thanks. If I was drinking enough water BEFORE starting all this, then that would explain it, yes?

body mass might change but weight doesnt. Also, you can do cardio untill your legs die and you wont lose any weight if you're over eating and just breaking even.

My weight has been within the same 5-8lb range for 6 months now, but my body fat is on a constant downslide. I can tell I'm getting much leaner, but I gained 5lbs in the last month :bigthumb:

Is there any way to avoid putting on the muscle and still lose the fat? Just do cardio and not lift? I realise that normally it's desireable to get the muscle too, but I'm already a fairly muscular guy, and in fact I need to keep my weight low to keep my fall rate under control when I freefall.

    :hsugh: We'll I'm sure you're quite broly.

losing fat without gaining muscle? that would be diet. If you're in caloric defecit working out will just let you keep the muscle you have, because your body will eat fat and muscle for energy.

I really do recommend working out your entire body for not only health reasons, but for the fact that as you work out you burn alot of calories, also after you work out you burn alot of calories as your body repairs itself. It's a win, win, win, win situation, ease into it, you're not going to wake up and be Ronnie Coleman and be in a panicing state or anything

I'm not broly, but I'm carrying a lot of muscle, especially in my legs.

In any case, I'm "supposed" to stay under 254lbs in full gear. That's body, clothes, jumpsuit over clothes, shoes, altimeter, helmet, goggles, gloves, and parachute.

Ideally, I'd be closer to 230 fully geared, but I can't picture that happening, ever  Anyway, the lighter I am, the slower I'll fall. Right now in certain body positions I fall like a bat out of hell, so losing weight would be helpful.

    Today I had:

a bowl of special k with 2% milk for breakfast
a banana about 2 hours after that,
2 hours later I had a couple chicken, bean and rice tacos (no cheese),
2 hours later I had a small can of mandarin oranges.
For dinner, I had a chicken breast with a spoonful of spaghetti sauce and a slice of pepperjack cheese toasted on a hoagie roll.

Not perfect, I'm sure, but... :dunno:

That only applies in a vacuum. In atmosphere, weight matters :hs: Common error though, there was a giant clusterfuck thread about it a while back

Not exactly, but I try and keep a general idea.

I figure today was about a 1700 cal day so far, and I'll have another snack later.

Liquids are the biggest source of calories you can effect easily IMO. Cut out ALL non diet/lowcarb drinks. Make it a goal not to drink anything with more than 5 calories per serving (exept for maybe skim milk). That would alow you drink WATER, diet soda, crystal lite, diet iced tea, fitness waters ect. if you switch from 2% to skim you'll save like 500 calories per gallon of milk, those really add up.

Yeah, my fam fucked up and bought 2% for some reason, so I figure I'll help finish it then make sure they get skim.
