So after buying a new Miata, I can say the following:

It's super slow, has fidgety handling, and is built for people of abnormal height (read: munchkins).

    That will be all.

    I agree

Also hate how you can't see outside of the car due to the, oh, 4" worth of viewing space thanks to the shape of the window.

Would this be a new mx5?? If so I'd agree on the windshield for sure, but I'm also 6'2". I found the motor to be adequate but could use some more power, the 5 speed is the trans to have, and I liked the handling though it was a bit soft for my taste.

The 6 speed trans' gears were too short, 1st and 2nd winded out way too quickly. In terms of autocross like what I'm into it would be a problem of too much shifting and bouncing off the rev-limiter a lot. For daily use on the street it would be ok though.

I never got out of second at the Mazda driving event...

It's perfect for me in terms of size since I'm 5' 7", although I prefer the peaky power of the MS MX-5 over the new model.

What, did you buy the thing before test driving it, or what? I'm 5'6" and my father's 5'9", and we both really like the way his new Miata is. It handled kinda funny on the drive home, but after the tires and brakes wore in a little, the fidgetiness went away.\

The 6 speed auto doesn't have problems with the gears being too short. It has four underdrive gears and two overdrive gears, and it shifts between them so quickly that it's not an issue. If you try to drag race the thing in Tiptronic mode, yes you will hit the rev limiter in 1st gear before you can hit the Upshift button, but that's driver error, not designer error.

I had to pickup my mother's Miata from the train station one day (long story on why). It was really fun to drive, had good handling, engine seemed to respond well, paddle shifters were awesome, I just wish I got to drive it longer then 5miles.

Yes with the top up, it is hard to see whats going on around you. After driving it, made me like my 300zx a lot more.

The RX-7 is old and the RX-8 just had a massive engine-leak-related recall -- it's expected to affect almost every single one on the road. Yikes.

The new Miata is a damn fun car. My dad has one of he 6-speed tiptronics and it's great fun to bomb around in.

i considered a miata when i was looking for a new car, but the damn thing is just plain too small and cramped inside for me - and that's with the top down

i might get an old one for auto-x though, but not as a DD

I thought the RX-8s recall was said that it'd more than likely only affect the ones in warmer states, and your engine would only get replaced SHOULD it fail the vacuum test(or whatever test it was that they would be performing)

A few mods will be installed in the spring... intake, downpipe, midpipe, catback, bov, electronic boost controller, H&R adjustable coilovers, and a few other things.
