I need a new snowboarding jacket and want to spend about $150. What are some good brands to look at?

i would be more concerned with the waterproof rating since the it rains a lot more in the east than west so definitely get a hard shell. do you want a more technical looking jacket or a jacket from an actual snowboarding company?

Focus on waterproofing. Chances are its going to be wet snow if you are on the east coast. Also, don't settle on breathability because I've found a few snowboard companies that have a waterproof jacket which doesn't breath, its the rough equivalent of wearing a garbage bag.

I have a HUGE post on proper winter sports gear in one of the large TSL threads (either Chat, Post your Purchases, or going back and forth in your head...). Read that if you need good info, too bad I can't search it out myself. :wtc:

does your area hold a yearly snowboard show? here in toronto, they have one every october. i see alot of boarding gear going for half price -- all brand new, just last season's stuff. you can get a decent jacket for about the price you posted.
