I need a new snowboarding jacket and want to spend about $150. What are some good brands to look at?
good deals can be found in their outlet. do you mostly ski on the east coast or do you frequently go out west?
i would be more concerned with the waterproof rating since the it rains a lot more in the east than west so definitely get a hard shell. do you want a more technical looking jacket or a jacket from an actual snowboarding company?
Focus on waterproofing. Chances are its going to be wet snow if you are on the east coast. Also, don't settle on breathability because I've found a few snowboard companies that have a waterproof jacket which doesn't breath, its the rough equivalent of wearing a garbage bag.
I have a HUGE post on proper winter sports gear in one of the large TSL threads (either Chat, Post your Purchases, or going back and forth in your head...). Read that if you need good info, too bad I can't search it out myself.
i just got a new jacket last snow season, im east coast snowboarder. i got the burton phantom. nice jacket, light, has good water resistence. dont think its ever gotton soaked. maybe on the tail from sittin on my ass waiting for the little 10 year olds to get off the rails and jumps. but over all great jacket it got cuff velcro and a hood if that matters any to you.

Yes that would be it. Let me know if you have any questions at all, I work in the outdoor/winter sports industry.
ive been looking around and havent found much that i like. everything has some weird ass design all over it. anyone know of something with a simple pattern or solid color?
burton makes a lot of coats that come in both patterns and solid colors. usually good waterproofing for pretty cheap too.
haha gotta love the ice.. racing in the east made me a much better skier...
does your area hold a yearly snowboard show? here in toronto, they have one every october. i see alot of boarding gear going for half price -- all brand new, just last season's stuff. you can get a decent jacket for about the price you posted.
