I'm pretty big on torrents... but just curious as this is my first Mac and first time upgrading the OS since I've always used XP.... should I pay the $9.95 shipping/handling from Apple, or just torrent it?

If you can't pony up $9.95, I agree with this

they rewrote a lot of the OS
it's going to be smaller and faster
and there's new tech called Grand Central that uses the graphics chip to assist the CPU and make it faster
and if you have an intel mac already, it's $30

i'm pretty shocked that there's not a torrent of it out there already

    full NTFS support is nice.
faster load times on everything. better graphics support. better at utilizing multiple cores.

    from that site:
    2x faster wake time
    1.55x faster wireless network join

10.5 already wakes up in under 5 seconds :noes:

You need to quit crying about multisession DVDs. You can do it with Toast. Who cares.

:werd: Toast is way better than trying to use the OS for burning.

The burning engine built into OS X was written by the same guy that wrote Toast.

I've been running Snow Leopard for awhile and it's pretty nice. When I get the retail copy, can I just upgrade it or do I have to reformat?

In the past, Apple hasn't supported upgrading beta versions to the release version.
