I've been using this lately with great success. It's a simple ankle lock for when someone tries to replace guard from sidemount.

You are sidemounting someone on his righ side.

He turns onto his right side and brings his right shin (the bottom leg) across your stomach. (The standard way to replace guard)

Put your left arm over his head to cradle him as you isolate his right ankle with your right arm to go for the ankle lock. This should take no longer than a second or two.

Fall back and to your left side while bringing your right knee between his two legs. Squeeze your knees together and you've got a solid ankle lock.

Once you get a hang of it, try to do it relatively quick. You shouldn't telegraph it just like any other submission.

Make sure that when you ankle lock you're in deep (solid on his achiles) and you aren't giving his foot any space to wiggle out.

ah, i like to use something similar to this except for a heel hook. Pretty good set up.

I'll try to get some today. I've been busy as hell lately.

No promises. Not sure if it's on the net at all.

If there is a particular part that you guys are confused about, let me know.

Also if you guys want to learn about any attacks, defenses, etc... from a particular position, let me know.

that IS a better question to ask..

the only thing i understood w/o pics was go for an ankle lock while grabing his head and ankle at the same time when he tries to get guard from sidemount

i understood nothing of how to do it

One day you're here to "ruffle feathers" and the next you're upset because of uninformative responses. :mamoru:

I like this sub-forum and most of its members a lot, and because of that I try not to personally contribute too much to its pollution. On the other hand it is offtopic.com so how much seriousness do we really need. I try to provide serious input when I can, and humor or jokes in appropriate threads.

On topic to the thread, Im not exactly clear on the application of the move, the position seems simple enough tho. Maybe a simple MS paint pr something to help us visual learners :)

i actually understand this technique. its like youre going for a reverse heel hook, but then you go for an achilles lock instead with his leg going ACROSS your body.

usually if you fall to your left side, the left foot is trapped against your left side when you do the achilles. when you do it this way, its trapped against your right side. its going across your body.

watch the video i post below and that might make more sense

in the video, the left foot would be pushing tight on his hip.. and your right arm would wrap around his leg for the achilles lock. and you would be leaning on your left side.

so watch the video, and read what placebo is saying again, and it will probably make more sense.

Chechen is the man. That's pretty much exactly it.

Personally, I slide my left leg under his right leg instead of standing, but that works too.

Oh chech, according to my instructor I'll be down in LA for the seminars in the beginning of August AND the Mundials to train with some people he knows from Brazil. He told me not to worry about money :eek4:

We definitely need to meet up at some point.
