Took some pics of the fresh snow in my yard. I've been wanting to start shooting in RAW, so I took all these in Program mode. 350D w/ kit lens :)wtc:).

I messed with exposure and ISO a lot. And sometimes I changed the aperture and time. I took 2-3 shots of each scene with different exposures. Here are the ones I think look the best out of the whole shoot.

I know these suck, so take it easy on me. :) I really need some constructive criticism. I'm not worried about composition right now, I just want to learn how to take good looking pics with this damn camera. Please help me.

They look good as far as quality goes, not really sure what the hell is going on in the last two though :dunno:

I like the true red color.

Thanks. The last two were taken from each side of the little bridge in the first pic. Is it the composition or you just couldn't figure out what was in it?

Would a CP filter have made any difference in these pics?

Probably not much, light looks pretty flat. I know you're trying to learn the camera but I think you should worry most about composition. Learning the camera is pretty easy, taking good photos is not.

you can learn all the exposure theory in the world and it ain't worth a shit if you can't compose a decent image. it's sorta one of the important parts. :)
there is no '*compose' button. you can slack your ass in P mode or something to worry about exposure while you get the fundamentals of composition down.
