    Are they really needed?

The only time I use one is in my GSG-5 which came with one.

Does an AR-15, Remington 700, and Remington 870 really need them? Right now I use the st action pro training caps for testing extraction and feeding

snap caps can be used to simulate failure drills. also dry firing.

I use 'em for some rimfires, and on my CZ's if I am doing dry fire drills.

    Other than that... no.

I use them on all my bolt actions, my rimfire guns, my Single Action Army clone and I would on my AR if I dry-fired it.

Not good to dry fire shotguns though. If you plan to do a lot of that you should get some for it.

Im pretty sure my 870 can take a beaing and you have nothing to worry about the AR-15 we dry fired an M-16 a good 200times in a day during basic

i use them when i help others at the range. Put a random few in and see if they flinch when pulling the trigger.

    that's about it
