THis is what this girl I am talking to was telling me. Can anyone explain how this happens? I've searched on the net and found two sites that back up her statements but have yet to find any STUDIES>

nicotine is no different from the other crap like ephedrine and caffiene, it is a stimulant/thermogenic. it curbs hunder and does infact burn a slight amount of callories.

Hmm never considered nicotine as a stimulant in the same category as ephedra. I thought it was mainly to curb hunger.

We covered this in a class that I took last quarter. If I remember correctly, smoking doesn't cause your body to burn more calories, but abstaining from smoking (when you're a regular smoker) causes your body to burn less calories.

I was a stick figure when I smoked. I also ate and drank a lot of rubbish as well (junk food, sweets, alcohol). Once I quit I started eating decent stuff and I put on the weight.

    Anything tobacco related FTL.

It's funny to see people you know that have been chewing for years act like everything is cool even when they start seeing signs of impending doom. A while ago, someone I know was like "yeah I'm starting to get open sores and white bumps on my gums but I think I'll be alright".

Could be. I know when I stop smoking I can easily put on 5 pounds in a week with the same diet.
