HP laptop, probably about two years old. DV1000 series. I bought used. It has served me well for almost a year. I'm using it right now. Anyways, something has happened to the AC Adapter port. After a minute or so of being plugged in, the area around the port gets really hot, and I can smell/see smoke coming out of cpu fan grill-opening. I'm wondering what my options are for fixin' it. Mainly, does anyone have any idea what the exact problem is? Obviously, electricity isn't acting nicely and it's trying to start a fire. It's not under warranty, so should I just open it up and find the problem, or would a local CompUSA or BestBuy be able to fix it? Is contacting HP my only real option? ARGH. Help me please.
