who uses this to bench press? any cons? ive gotten into my 3rd accident in 6 months while bping, although minor, it seems like i would be able to push myself a lot harder on the smith without fear of getting into another accident

edit- i'll also be doing close grip bp using regular bbs (no smith) if that makes any difference

use the smith for incline and close grip, never flat bench, if you cant barbell flat use Db's or the hammer flat press

You just have to learn when enough is enough. I'm pretty good at judging if I'll be able to manage another rep now. Thankfully I've never been in the position where the bar is pinned to my chest.

Of course you could always use dumbells. I'd still say to avoid the smith machine though.
