downloaded this today for my MBP and i am really impressed, it allows you to control the RPM of your fans while giving you a laptop temp as well as fan rpm on your top status bar. sometimes when running a lot of different programs my fan will kick on to cool it off, but it never seems to turn on fast enough and the fan seems to go on forever. i tried this today, made a custom setting for the highest rpm's, and was able to cool off my MBP much faster than the normal settings would.

not sure if anyone uses this, but figured i would post it up because it seems like a very useful program.

General consensus is that the OS is much smarter about operating the fans at the right speed and time then the user is. Leave the OS to do it's thing and don't risk putting additional wear and tear on your computer or risk damaging it.

I had to use that on my iMac Aluminum as it would always overheat. I just turned the fans to idle just below where I could hear them.
