Just looked at the stats for the county i live in (johnson county kansas)

and the % of people taking advantage of their right to carry is staggeringly low

population of the county : 534,093

    # of CCW license holders in this county : 4047

% of citizens of this county with CCW : 0.757% *edit, forgot to move my decimal point*

Pathetic that so few people particapate in a basic right!!!!

is this county alone or are most areas this pathetic?

  2. Where did you find the stats? Was it specific to your area, or is it a site that compiles this info? I'd love to see the stats for my area.

I dunno. Supposedly there are between 3 and 10 million CCW holders nationwide...but there are really no hard stats to back up stuff since a lot of counties don't publish that info

According to wikipedia there are 73,966 people in my county and my permit # was 18,484. So that would be around 25% but I dont know when they started using this system, so like number 1 could be dead for a while... :dunno: And 25% seems like a lot for a NY county.. Although we have a lot of hunters and our issuing judge is pro carry..

i went to the attorney generals web site for Kansas and they have the # of CCW's listed for each county. I don't know if every state provides the #'s though.

Hmm, I never thought to look that up. My county:

    2008 estimated population: 264,063
    7/08-6/09, licenses issued: 1,209
    renewals: 807

    % of concealed carry: .76%

    Statewide for FL is .43%

btw, OP, that's not 0.00757%, it should be 0.757%.

yeah i looked up my old home county in Iowa and Iowa doesn't give much info either, just how many for the year not overall. sort of sucks, the permit was easier to get in Iowa so i was curious to see what % of people had them there, oh well

  14. There's no need to overthrow the government there, they're doing a good job of collapsing on their own.

theres like 20% unemployment in my county. 40% in fresno because the assholes at the delta want to save some dumbass fish. people are fucking starving to death because they cant work (farm) to feed their families, and bay area liberal dickheads are worried about the survival of some smelt.

    :ugh2:

im really expecting the day to come where riots break out over food and shit.

that's the official rate of unemployment dude. In reality its a fair bit higher than that, but it's just the economy is so fucked that the .gov can't even measure it anymore
