Hey all, I'm going to be traveling to Europe for 3 months and I want to take my SLR. I have a Canon Rebel XTi, and I have 1,500 to spend. What do we think of the following lenses?

    http://www.usa.canon.com/consumer/controller?act=ModelInfoAct&fcategoryid=150&modelid=7344
    OR
    http://www.usa.canon.com/consumer/controller?act=ModelInfoAct&fcategoryid=150&modelid=7469
    OR
    (all purpose)
    http://www.usa.canon.com/consumer/controller?act=ModelInfoAct&fcategoryid=149&modelid=9802

    I currently have:
    Kit lense
    http://www.usa.canon.com/consumer/controller?act=ModelInfoAct&fcategoryid=149&modelid=7337
An old film lense from my old rebel, it's like 70mm - 200mm but it's not very good, I rarely even bring it with me anymore.

I don't mind carrying extra lenses, but obviously if I don't have to why would I?

    Halp!

Ahh, found it... I guess I don't have a short lens yet... so maybe. I guess I always figured I could use my 28mm for short stuff.

    I thought the 10-22 was a rectilinear?

Seems a bit pointless having something that wide otherwise...

10-22 is pretty useful other than that I would get the 70-200 IS

    10-22
    and
    24-70

that would be a pimp combination, but a bit more $$ than your budget (unless you bought used).

i dont know if i'd use the 70-200 if i was in a city-type atmosphere

I know I used the 10-22 90% of the time in new york :coold:

I'd prefer to just go for primes for tele and zooms for normal-wide

how about changing the 24-70 to the tamron version 28-75 that would put those two lenses in the price range, and I can't honestly think of a better combination of two small lenses (hell I use that combo myself 95% of the time.

I think I'm gonna spend the whole summer over there, near SHAPE where my brother works. We'll have to hook up and go shooting if you're there.
