People that are running 2 video cards. Can you see a difference? Is it worth getting 2 video cards?
Yes, it's a big difference.
Each card actually produces exactly one half of the page.
So the card puts it's resources into rendering just a half page.
In practice, it's not quite twice as fast, but it's a lot faster nonetheless.
And especially if you have a crazy screen resolution, two cards can keep up much better.
Yes, it is quite a bit faster for gaming (in certain games)
Would it be better to get 2 cards and run them sli or get one higher end video card instead?? What would perform better?
It depends on the budget. This is very much a case by case thing.
If you have a price range, I could give a better answer.
Let's say roughly $300 as a budget.
I wouldn't go with anything less than the 7900 series of cards and it would cost a little bit more
than $300 to do a 7900 Sli setup.
BFG has a 7900gs that's $170 shipped, but after rebate unfortunately.
A pair of them would be $340, and definitely would own any single card for the same amount of money.
But again, you have to mess around with rebates.
If you're not in a hurry, wait until you see the sales for next Friday.
You can find a lot of the info here for Black Friday sales here:
Doesn't Best Buy currently have the PNY 7900GS for ~150?
I've heard it's a pretty good card and a great deal for 150.
That card would do some damage.
