Ok so this is just a sneek peek... just walked through the door and I am getting ready to remove the saran wrap he put on just for me to get him. I sat for about 3 1/2 hours and it runs 3/4 length. Next session is in 2 weeks and I will sit for at least 3 hours again. This is my first real piece as everything else is rather small things that took maybe an hour. I am definitely stoked and cant wait to get some more sessions in...( Although the elbow and armpit areas werent necessarily fun :eek3:)

THIS IS THE TEASER.. THE REST WILL FOLLOW TOMMORROW

    Aaron Mason@ Soul Expressions.

He just finished doing my wifes cover-up and I liked his line work. It happened that his favorite genre is traditional oriental which is what I wanted. The koi will be red with black spots and everything else will be black and gray shading work.

how many sessions is it going to take, sleeves are usually a big job. With my freind it took them like 4 - 5 3 hour sessions to get the job done and he got something similar to what you had done. First session they did all the black ink work, then one session for color and 2 sessions for details and ish.

    Thanks...

Yeah that sounds just about right... he was saying 3 or 4 more similair sessions and we spent 3 1/2 hours the first time. Somewhere in the neighborhood of 15 hours total.

I dont mind telling but since I am not done it will be hard to say. He just finished my wifes cover-up which we were happy with so we tipped him well. The shop I am going to I believe charges 135-150 an hour and he is guessing 12-15 hours. That being said I sat for just about 4 hours the other day and it was $315.... The artists at the shop had also designed some shirts they sell and I asked about the samurai one he designed which he ended up tossing one to me. When he gave me the total I tipped him $60 (a little low this time... all the cash I had) and he seemed pleased.

So in short best case scenario using session 1 as benchmark and low end of hours = around $1200 where as the high end and what I am planning will be more like $2250:noes:

So that being said I didnt help you much... but I am not worried about the money rather the quality, ultimately.

how much did it run you? i know people get testy over that question on this board, but i'm honestly curious about how much something like that will run you.
