I'm looking at sleeving my left arm in a dedication to music, all forms of it. I already have a lyric on there, then I'm getting things like a cassette tape, smashed guitar, some guy singing into microphone, possibly a jazz player etc.

I've talked with a studio who have a great portfolio and they say its totally up to me to whether get all the outlining done, then do sessions for colouring etc, or just get one piece at a time, then join it at the end.

I'm leaning towards the one piece at a time, because I don't have a huge amount of money, and I'm not 100% on everything I want. But my worries are this way it could end up more disjointed and look like a load of seperate tattoo's with crap inbetween, as opposed to one big piece.

What are peoples experiences? Am I safe going for this option?

Go with one big outline, then do a shading session, then a coloring session. Piece by piece will look exactly like that, 'piece by piece'. It's much easier to make everything have a nice creative flow by having it all done at once.

I've been booked up to have half my bicep done, but I'll ask then about how much it'll cost to have the whole thing done from there, then get saving I guess. It'll give me some time to come out with more ideas too.

Out of curiosity, what was the price quote on it (even just a general range)? I'm assuming it'll wrap around the whole upper half of your bicep, sleeve stylie.

who do you plan on getting to tattoo you? i haven't been following a lot of english artists, but i like woody's stuff. he's in wycombe (i think that's right). pretty versatile and has visibly gotten better over the years.

its not a half sleeve yet, just one piece. Price is £55 an hour, price for my one is gonna be £90.

I'm getting it done by Leigh at Cosmic Tattoo in Colchester, I don't know his second name, was voted in the top 100 artists by Skin Deep magazine, I wasn't really paying attention.

Portfolio was really good, the one in store miles better than the online one too.

As already mentioned..outline the entire thing first. Then base black, then color. It's going to cost the same in the end either way :)
Plus after your first session you technically already have a sleeve hehe.

Haven't rode trials since Novermber, got boring really.

Andy's not getting Ian Curtis anymore, he's getting a portrait of Vincent Hermance with "I love teh French Koxx" underneath.

    True story, really.

    :hs:
