just bought this movie- I know its an old one, but still a great one- and was wondering if anyone had read the book. I would like to read it but just wondered if it was as good as the movie. I know that books are usually better because the movies leave things out. I had seen this movie when it first came out and still can't believe the line up they came up with for the movie- lots of big names. Robert Deniro, Brad Pitt, Dustin Hoffman, Jason Patric (he was great in Lost Boys!), just lots of great actors. Anyway any comments on the book would be great. Let me know if its worth the buy.

It's been a long time since I read it so I don't remember much but the book was much better.

Wasn't the book revealed to be mostly made up?

I don't remember if it was proved, but most agree it's entirely fiction.

This is an awesome book, I definatly would read it if you got the chance. And I dont know about it being fake, but I could definatly see the story being real. People are fucked up like that...

I think it is based on a true story, because I have the book somewhere on my shelf and read it being mentioned in the author's (Lorenzo Carcaterra) short description. I never finished reading the book though. It was a long time ago when I got it. I might read the whole thing when I have time.
