Went to get a check up last thursday.
My doc felt on my neck and noticed it was pretty large and tight.
He asked me if i have a problen sleeping. and to i wake up with headaches.
And if my heart feels odd beating at times. I replied yes to all of them..

He begged me to get tested for SA. So I'm waiting to hear from the labs to get scheduled for the sleep test.

My doc alot stated that THIS is prolly why I can't loose weight.

Any honest advice from you all is appreciated.
Mainly, is it any food of any type I need to stay away from as well, til I get tested? And do's or dont's. Help please. THANKS:sad2:

My dad has this. He has to sleep with a mask attached to an oxygen thing every night to prevent him from waking up from skipped breaths.

He is also 100lbs overweight and smokes though, so that probably pays a huge roll. I would suggest getting the tests done and taking care of what needs to be done, and IMMEDIATELY start losing weight and eating better and watch the caffeine.

My CPAP machine has saved my life!! I wasn't recovering from my workouts, I was falling asleep at work and while driving, I felt like shit all of the time. I got my CPAP about 1.5 years ago. Anyone notice that that's when I squated 903 and all my lifts started to skyrocket? That's not a coincidence!!

when i was at the peak of my bulk, i had noticeable sleep apnea. i knew it was because i was overweight after watching an espn special on sleep apnea in nfl linemen. it wasn't making me lose sleep or feel tired, so i didn't pay much attention to it. after cutting i haven't noticed it since.

Advice: It will take a couple of weeks to get used to the mask/machine, but don't give up. It's very important that you use it, otherwise you can die in your sleep. PM me if have any questions about it.

Yeah, that's the whole point. Not to die in your sleep. The throat collapses during sleep, due to have a large neck or being overweight. The CPAP pushes air through so the neck muscles don't collapse during sleep.

You just can't use anyone's cpap though. You need to go to a sleep study so they can calibrate the machine to exactly what you need.

i'm worried I have SA.. even if it's just mildly.

my dad had it and it ruined a lot of things in his life. he never wanted to go out and do anything.. could eat and fall asleep within 10 minutes.. literally.

i never want to do ANYTHING. always tired as fuck. nutrition is good, training is good, sleeping 7-10hrs a night. drinking tons of water. I don't get it.

Same with my dad. He became a different person when he got his CPAP. In fact, it DID save his life. He got shoulder surgery (old lifting injury) and an infection spread into his lungs and he ended up with a collapsed lung and couldn't breath.... Nearly died. The only thing that kept him going was that we had him use his CPAP to breathe until the paramedics got there with an oxygen tank.

:wiggle: No dos and don'ts. The sleep lab will send you a packet with instructions. Good luck! I've been through the same thing. If they fix your sleep you will notice an AMAZING difference.

Definitely get tested for it. A 34 year old guy at my work had a stroke that was blamed on SA.
