I love Skype. I can use it from any computer, any OS as long as I can a headset (or speakers and mic). We use it all the time at work to talk to Stockholm. Occasionally you'll get lag when using it overseas (like we do), but that is cause of the pipe over the pond.

I've heard bad things about skype (although I've never used it personally).

I have tried vonage and it was fucking shit. Avoid at all costs. Nothing beats POTS for the price.

so i ended up getting a netgear skype package because its more expensive up front but cheaper in the long run and i like the computer features it has as well. I need to get more regular phones for the house since the one i have is kinda shitty but this will do for now.. anyone have any suggestions on what other regular phones i should get? this is what i got.. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16833122176 [IMG]

I've had Vonage for two years now and have never had a problem. I use it as a home phone and get by on the 500 minutes for $15/mo plan. To get a basic phone line from Verizon would be more like $25/mo and it still wouldn't have all the features of Vonage.

$26.99 from qwest with the same feats as vonage, better voice quality, and waaaaaay more reliable. (and doesn't eat my bandwidth)

Well, the first step to recovery is admitting you have a problem. You've made a good start.

I didn't read those links you posted, but we were looking at Vonage in the Wallstreet forum and it seems like a dud, they have no plan and a future profit isn't very realistic for them.

I have used Skype, back when it was free and I liked it. I will use it when I move out.
