I think I have the wrong form.

Last week after a sets of skull crushers my right elbow hurt.

Then last night after my sets both of them hurt. I think I have the wrong form or something.

Anyone else experience elbow pain from them?

I get the same thing. I've tried going lighter to work my form and I had no problems. when I upped the weight again, using the exact same form, same problem. also tried different grips with little to no luck.

I think something in my elbow is messed though, cause sometimes it hurts during bench too.

Are you letting your elbows flare out? Another thing I found to ease elbow pain is bring the weight behind your head.

Yes, I think this is the problem. I read a few things on form earlier.

They are kinda Y'd out and I bring it behind my head already. I think I need to do a lighter weight and try to keep my elbows in? Then maybe after I have proper form I can start moving back up.

Just stop doing them, there's plenty of other tricep workouts that will suffice.

your elbows are a really sensitive joint. You don't want to go heavier than you can handle otherwise you can risk damaging the ligaments.

You don't think proper form would alleviate it? Keep in mind I've only been going at it seriously again for 4 weeks.

I can't do them. Or BB curls. It fucks my forarms/elbows up. It's just not worth it.

Yea, I guess I'll just have to chill out on the Skullcrushers.

Nothing else seems to aggrivate them.

Recommendations on what to replace them with? I already do Pushdowns and One Arm Overhead Extensions in my splits.

I like one arm underhand pulldowns. Or close grip bench.

Stop doing them for a while along with heavy presses/other tricep lifts until they improve. Make sure you're warming up a lot too.

When I was doing heavy ass tricep movements and presses several times a week (Westside shit) I had constant elbow pain, I'd do several sets of 20+ reps on pushdowns before each workout just to get my elbows/tris warmed up enough.

Just go easy for a while and they should get back to normal.

I've been doing the Max-OT warmups for muscle groups. I just strained them bad yesterday by bowing my elbows out so much. Hopefully the pain subsides after today.

    Thanks

EZ bar? I think that helps more with wrist pain than anything.

Yea, I use the EZ Bar already. Not much a problem with the wrists, pretty sure it's just my shitty form.

I was doing a lot of heavy lockout work at the time too. And I tend to get elbow pain when I bench heavy for several weeks in general.

Bingo. Only do as much as your body tells you. How long have you been doing these? It takes a certain amount of time to build up the necessary base to go heavy with these types of movements. Go lighter and concentrate on hitting the muscles instead of just going for big numbers. They'll come in due time.

just don't do skullcrushers....it makes no sense to do an exercise that hurts you when there's plenty of viable alternatives

Maybe 3 weeks honestly. I have a lot more power with pushdowns, crushers are a completely different story. I'll just cut them out of my routine for a while.

:werd: to responses. Unless I do weight that isn't doing me any good, it'll hurt really bad. Tried all sorts of different ways of doing them.. I just simply don't do them anymore.
