I'm in the market for a rifle in 7.62x39 I'm not really interested in an AK as I don’t like MM Grips so much (it looks just silly) and I'd rather not pin the mag or use a BB.

The SKS is older and I would have to worry about corrosive ammo, I don’t know if that is an issue with the Saiga. There have also been some recent bouts of the DOJ trying to claim that non listed Saigas are illegal. But with a good FFL who knows his stuff and has some balls I don't think that would be a problem.

Does anyone know which is more accurate? Price should be about the same.

    General opinions welcome

the SKS will be slightly more accurate, it will also be a fair bit cheaper.

What do you mean you would have to worry about corrosive ammo in an SKS and not a Saiga? If you're shooting corrosive ammo through either of them, just give the gas tubes a good scrubbing and clean them regularly.

You think it would be cheaper also?

Aren't Saigas only like 250-300 new?

I didn't think most SKS barrels were chrome lined. :dunno: maybe they are.

Would depend on my SKS options, saiga over a yugo, unless I was planning a conversion I'd take a chicom or ruskie sks over a saiga.

I might pick up a Saiga in .308 for Christmas. And then one in 7.62x39 to round out my collection.

For me I would probably looking at anything chrome lined and in good firing shape. I plan on replacing the stock with something aftermarket anyways.

As far as SKS's go. Full length or carbine length? I wouldn't be shooting it much past 100 yards. And it would make it a little more weildy when the zombies come.

How are Chinese SKS's? Versus Romanian/Russian/Yugo, etc.

after playing with many sks's, i'm partial to the norinco's... got mine for like $60(minus gas tube and piston), with a ramline folder and 30 round mag... only problem with mine, is i wish i could find another that cheap around here... with the wood.

Russians best, Chinese 2nd, yugo 3rd.

Never handled an North Korean or Albanian but they probably fit in between chicom and yugo.
