Got mine for about 200, buddy of mine got his for around the same price with a scope on it. You'll have the best luck at gun shows, or if you're adventurous you can check gunbroker.

All of the ones Ive seen at the gun shows are overpriced. Although I dont know about gun shows where you live. There is one every 2 to 3 months where I live so the dealers usually charge whatever the hell they want, as theres not a huge selection.

I bought an SKS on black fridy (no, not on sale or anything) for $170 after tax and brought it home the same day since the owner said "hey, you were already interested in this yesterday werent you? ;)"

Its a Norinco. Missing the bayonet and only came with a 30 round mag, but I have since gotten a Leapers scope and a Yugo 10 round fixed mag.
Waiting on the monte carlo stock. Thinking about giving it to my brother as a christmas present if he doesnt piss me off too bad in the next week.

Id say a $200 one shouldnt be too bad if its a Norinco or a Rusky. If its a Yugo, then it would be better to get it from a dealer listed in Shotgun News since you can most probably get them for a little over a hundred used.

    Check aimsurplus.com or jgsales.com

They have some decent Yugo shooters, and depending on the grade you want they are 120-160+ffl. I bought one that looked brand new. Stripped the cosmo and refinished the stock then sold it for 240 :bigthumb:

I paid $160 for a Yugo that is 100% mint, unfired and perfect condition. You can get Yugos with non-matching numbers for around $120-$140 depending on condition.

If you are going to get into these type of guns I suggest you get a C&R FFL. It's only $30 and is done by mail with the ATF, no fingerprints required. I'm not sure what transfer fees are in your area, but in most cases if you buy just one gun it pays for itself. You'll also get FFL discounts at most retailers.

Where did you find an idiot that would pay $240?

Edit: I remember last year you could get used ones for $85 :wtc:
    And unissued ones for $140

Just wait until the supply drys up, the mint unissued will probably be $250+. :hs:

My chicom SKS is pretty accurate better then any stamped AK I've had, but just slightly better then a milled slr.

I wouldn't mind an albanian either I kick myself for not buying one a couple years ago when there a few floating around. Now what I'd really like is a NK SKS

Good luck. From what I hear they are extremely rare in the US. I heard that the only ones to make it back were vet captures from Vietnam

There was a small shipment of them in a couple years ago, I think your thinking of the NK ones that are super rare bringbacks.

I think I was thinking about the East German Karabiner-S

Someone should manage to import them but intentionally make shipments small. Charging what you want ftw
What kind of red tape would all be involved?

Right before I sold mine I took it to the range.

I got one-ragged-hole about 2-2.5 inchs around from 50 rounds of craptastic wolf, all at 100 yards. I was surprised. You're not going to be taking down those helicopters anytime soon though. :hs:

They weren't that rare. They were the ones with the extra funky upper handguard. AIM use to have them for like $179. All dried up now though. I should have bought one. :wtc:

Just got my monte carlo stock in and put it on the gun

I really hate making a shitty aftermarket gun like this, but this is the only way to get my brother into shooting more. :hsd:
Hell most probably think its cool :o

And  to what J&G puts in their packages for padding
