I took my sks apart to clean last night(don't tell wifey). now, i can't get the receiver latch pin to go in all the way. i've tried different positions, putting pressure on the reciever cover and tapping w/a mallet, but it won't go in all the way. any ideas or tricks to try?

It should go in when the lever is pointing straight up. If you look at the inside of the reciever and the pin you can see where it needs to be. Alot of SKS parts are stubborn and just need some force, but make sure to look at everything and get in there with a flashlight and know how it works before you start hammering shit.
