Hey guys; I was over at my buddy's this evening. We watched the latest Die Hard movie and cleaned guns FTW. But I noticed his (one) mag for his SKS was kind of rusty and the feed rails were kind of jacked up. He's like "I know, I should get some new mags" but he wasn't sure where to go from there. I checked the Magpul website but looks like they only make AR mags. What're the best mags for the SKS and where do you get them? THX :)

I wish that Magpul would make an AK PMag... Someone other than Promag needs to make a polymer AK magazine. I'm well aware of the Bulgarian magazines that Promag copied, but I'd like to see a dustcover and PMag quality in polymer AK magazines.

the best SKS mags are the fixed ones that come with it. Detachable ones usually suckhard. Try to find some eastern bloc replacement. my .02. you might find replacements at some of the parts dealers.
    here perhaps? http://www.copesdist.com/sks.htm

Don't see the need, the import ones are cheap enough. I think crapco does sell dust covers for regular ak mag's.

They're not really that cheap anymore, I would just spend an extra $100 or so and get an AK variant.

The best hicap SKS mags have the 20 round steel ones that came with a select few Chinese models. They have a star on them. Everything else is a crapshoot, more or less.
