Going shooting tommorow at a place that has a skeet range. A month or so ago I got a good deal on a mossberg 500A, but it has the slug barrel. I am planning on getting a normal barrel, but given I just dropped $650 on AR and 10/22 parts I am kinda tapped out.

Will the slug barrel (says its rifled, but i cant see the riflings) work at all for skeet, or am I better just waiting?

If it's rifled your pattern is going to be about 10' across at 3 yards.

I don't think it'd hurt it, but $10 says it won't pattern for shit and you'll just be wasting shells.

When the shot spins in the rifling of the barrel, the centrifugal forces will just spin the shot way out to the side as soon as it leaves the barrel. Get yourself a 10'x10' piece of cardboard and shoot it from a few feet away, you will get a nice donut shape on it.
