Ok I have no idea how to fix this problem.

Say I open a window for explorer, it will not be maximized. So then I have to maximize it EVERYTIME. This is because the restore downed one is just a bit smaller than the maximum and it drives me freakin crazy cause it is just below maximum size. So if i click on the X it closes the window behind it... very bad. Any ideas how to permantly make it so when I open windows in explorer they are maximized!?!?!

Don't know if this will have the right effect, but try opening regedit and going to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main, there's a value in there called fullscreen, try setting it to yes. Hope it helps :)

Once in a while I will get stuck with an odd sized window.

Normaly I just close all IE windows. Open one, hit maximize, close it, then open IE again and they will all be set to maximize.

Infact I can set any size I want that way.

The full screen mode (mentioned above) is not the same as a maximized window. The full screen is, in fact, FULL screen (browser only).

Yeah I thought that was the case. I just did some searching through the registry and came up with that key, the method mentioned by Rob is probably the best way to go :)

Try the properties menu on the explorer shortcut. Their will be an option to "run" under normal, minimize, or maximum window size.
