    Neat game.

I have the game turned all the way up with no hiccupping until maybe an hour into with ships flying everywhere. Finally a 4X game I can stand!

Sins of a Solar Empire is a space-bound game. The playing field is a 3D web of planets and other celestial objects in the orbital plane of one or more stars. It features a sandbox mode, allowing the player to choose different types of solar systems to unlock achievements. Players can conquer neighboring planets and explore distant star systems in a "massively scaled, fully 3D environment featuring entire galaxies, orbiting planets, clusters of asteroids, space dust and radiant stars." Notably, there is no single-player campaign mode, but games can be played against AI opponents offline and other players online. Ironclad Director Blair Fraser asserted that the game's "Iron engine" is specially designed with new technologies that allow it to handle very large differences in size, scale, and distance.[3]

I tried it out... it seemed a little too complicated for me to get into but I hear good things. :hs: I wish I could get into it, it seems like it would be fun to send huge space fleets at each other

It's definitely a good start, my favorite RTS since WC3. I would've liked a bit more diversity between races and a singleplayer campaign. The game had low development costs though and apparently made a pretty healthy profit.

    Great game, very addictive.

Did you get the mini expansion? It helps to spice things up.

Depends on how many planets you choose but yeah....even some of the lower amount of planets can run a good 2 hours and the medium can run 3-6 hours depending on how you play.

Good game and it looks gorgeous when you have everything turned up with full AA+AF while you pop open a beer and watch the space battle symphony play itself out.

Is there a decent star wars mod out for it? That would make the game well worth the investment for me.

Problem with SOASE is that, no matter how big the map, after you've reached a certain size, it simply becomes a "march your gigantic fleet through the rest of the galaxy one planet at a time" slog.
