Single folks: what are your V-day plans?

Me and my best gal friend will be eating, drinking, toking and joking. We'll be discussing how awesome our independence and freedom is, and how it's way cheaper than being attached so we can afford to travel and buy nice things for ourselves. :hs: :o Mostly, we'll be reflecting on how awesome life is, SO or not.

What about you? Will you be wallowing in self-pitty or embracing your singledom?

Girl is out of town for it, so technically I'll be alone for V-day. But I'm going to do what I do anytime I've been alone on Vday... treat it like any other day

It's a commercialized BS day anyway

I'll be doing the same, except we're going out to an Indian restaurant that neither of us have ever been to. :bigthumb: She wants to see a movie after, but I don't know about all that shit. There's a fridge full of beer waiting for me at home. :hsd:

Same thing I do every second Sunday of the month, dart tournament. The girl that I'm talking to happens to work at the bar I'll be at, may or may not acknowledge Valentine's Day. I don't really get the hype either.

I wonder how many drunk texts there will be, especially since the Monday after is a holiday for many people.

What holiday is it in the USA?

We (Canadians) have monday off too. But it's a 3 year old holiday. Maybe it's because of you guys we got it :bigthumb:

Ours is called "Family Day" and it's awesome because there is no social pressure to spend it doing Family Day activities yet (though hallmark is trying damn hard to turn it into another BS holiday)

So you are one of these people who say you make every day valentines day in your relationship that you don't need to wait for a special day - so you specifically don't do anything on valentines day to prove a point, disproving your point altogether

Commercialised or not, take the fucking chance to make your SO feel special - just because

...where the hell did you get that? I sure as hell never said any of that.

I think Christmas is over commercialized too... Any day where society demands you spend money on stereotypical crap (ie a teddy bear holding a heart, flowers that die, etc) is ridiculous imo. I don't need special day to take my girl out for a romantic dinner then fuck like rabbits.

BUT if my girl was in town I'd do the typical Vday shit with her without any complaining. But I don't have to this year, and it doesn't bother me at all because I don't consider it a real thing anyway.

It's just the bullshit I hear after 'It's so commercialised'.

:o I hate people having an excuse not to be romantic just to prove a point. ps. I have never received a teddy bear for valentines day. You can celebrate it without breaking the bank or spending a thing

I understand this, but if you walk around a mall this week and take a look at the stereotypical crap that stores have 100s of... someone has to buy them else they wouldn't be out every year.

Like I said, if she was in town I'd end up doing all the stupid shit. But all Valentines day is is a day manufactured by a company that makes a shitload of money on holidays. They've convinced the world that Feb 14th requires you to do/buy X Y Z, and if you don't you're a shitty SO

As in if I were to just totally ignore the day (if she was in town), she'd be upset that I don't care enough about her to buy into the bullshit. So I would be forced into buying into the bullshit because society demands it = :weak:

Single, and no date for vday (I'm kinda broke anyway so I was actually hoping NOT to have a chick that wanted me to take her out :o)

I'll be going on a bro date with my roommate watching the all star game, slam dunk contest and three point shootout on the 13th. Those are our vday plans (he is single to...and hates women).
